Pioneer VSX-1121-K 7.1 Home Theater Receiver, Glossy Black … And listened happily ever after. Pioneer! How could you do this to me after i bought only Pioneer products for over 25 years… Including a Pioneer plasma TV! I bought the first Pioneer VSX 1121 stereo/receiver the first week of September and the HDMI section stopped working so I could not watch TV or the play the Blu ray player. Pioneer tech support said I could not fix it. Amazon agreed to replace the unit even though I was 3 days past the 30 days for returning. The second unit froze a week after installation while I was setting the speakers volume and then I could not turn it on at all – Totally frozen dead! Amazon agreed to refund my money and pay for ups to pick it up. I am buying the Onkyo 809…

BACKGROUND: I’m a home theater novice. Not an audio or video novice, mind you; I’ve just used my Beyerdynamic DT880s for everything imaginable since it’s much cheaper to buy high-quality headphones than speakers. After going to a friend’s house and being blown away by the surround sound of an NFL football game, I knew I had to get in on the action. As usual, I didn’t have a lot to spend. I needed a complete setup under 0 that would sound good enough for everyday listening. It also had to match up with my sonic preferences: I like balanced sound with some warmth in the middle. No, my Beyers don’t match up with that, but like I said, I’m not a rich man. I decided to reuse an old Paradigm subwoofer that was laying around. ________________________ RESEARCH SUMMARY: I don’t trust salesmen, so I did many, many hours of research on AVSForum.com. Great receiver. Has all the bells and whistles and is priced very fair. Plenty of HDMI inputs and the iPad/iphone app is awesome! Easy to use and set up. Easy to customize the names of each device you set up. Great receiver by a great brand! |
